We’re in a lot of trouble… To push people to those limits where things like that happen makes no sense.”" – a witness from the Columbia mall shootout this morning, A culture of individual excellence, at the expense of breaking crucial familial dependencies, social support systems, and a healthy psychological eco-system. How much have we progressed? And what gorgeous a world we’ve built for our kids (and are continuing to do so?) Brought me back to this article about how and when we changed over to a culture of personality from that of character. What do you think? Is this just a side effect of the modern pursuit of the means to gratification? Or we are really doing something fundamentally wrong?   |
